Ayurveda Panchakarma
Panchakarma is Ayurveda’s primary purification and detoxification treatment. Panchakarma means the “five therapies”. These 5 therapeutic means of eliminating toxins from the body are Vamana, Virechana, Nasya, Basti and Raktamoskshana. This series of five therapies help remove deep rooted stress and illness causing toxins from the body while balancing the doshas. -
Njavarakizhi
Njavarakizhi is another special Ayurvedic full-body massage therapy. Boluses of njavara rice, which is boiled and medicated is wrapped in hand-size cotton bags. Kizhi is such a bag of any cloth made by wrapping something inside and tying on side to keep the wrapped items safe. Njavarakkizhi therapy is associated with steam bath with medicated herbs, and abhayanga or specialized medicated oil therapy. -
Pizhichil
Pizhichil is a treatment which comprises combination of heat treatment and oil massage. The therapy has been used since ancient times as kings used to take this treatment. Pizhichil is an excellent remedy for optimum relaxation in ayurveda. The ayurvedic treatment of pizhichil has been given importance as it gives good results to cure various body ailments such as Joint problems, Muscle tension, Increases blood circulation, Enhances sexual ability, Nourishes nerve tissues and body muscles. -
Dhara
Dhara means pouring of a liquid in a nonstop flow. In this treatment a steady stream of medicated herbal oil (thailadhara) is poured on the whole body in a particular pattern for about 45-60 minutes in a day for a period of 7-14 or 21 days. This treatment is ideal for insomnia, mental tension, for all progressive degenerative diseases like arthritis, spondylosis, motor neuron diseases etc. This treatment is highly rejuvenating and prepares the person to bear the stress and strain of modern life style. -
Sukha Chikitsa
Sukhachikitsa is a seasonal preventive treatment given to healthy persons, to prevent from diseases. Massages and specially prepared kanji are part of sukhachikitsa. According to Ayurveda, the Malayalam month of Karkidaka is time for preventive therapies. -
